I don't quite get your point, to be honest. How is a male love interest as an additional option any problem? It's not NTR. I do understand your issue with NTR and common execution of it and i agree. i just don't see how it's related to "let's add a completely optional piece of content" like male love interests.

I do think anything that is unexpected or extreme (non-consent, young-appearing characters, various queer stuff, hard kink stuff, foot fetish, whatever unusual thing people are sometimes into) can be ruining the mood for the player if it is not what they expected to come across.
If labeled appropriate and thus avoidable, there is no issue at all.

One AVN had a "blackmail suspect" option to help solve a murder case - but it got unexpectedly extremely rapey and not at all what i expected (or wanted in that scenario).
I found that really off-putting, because it just came out of nowhere.
Similar to what you describe with NTR.

Other games do that better by allowing pre-emptive decisions in the settings or by clearly labelling implications of decisions if they are out of the ordinary.
If that is done, everything is fine, in my book.

How would adding new options destroy a game? I have no interest in male love interests myself, so if the content is avoidable i'd have no issue with that being part of a game like this.

People are free to monetize their content however they want - the free ones are paid for by supportive communities via donations. This one charges upfront like the absolute majority of pc games does. Nothing controversial or weird about this.

While i can't magic your progress back, i recommend using repositories like git or mercurial to save intermediate versions to avoid things like this in the meantime.

I personally recommend mercurial (A.K.A. hg) with tortoisehg (a GUI), because it is a lot easier to use than git and way harder to fuck up.

If you are only using it so save your progress it is about 1-2 minutes daily of added work, but you have all your progress saved and can even go back to older immediate versions if something got messed up in between.

If you have questions or want some assistance/guidance setting that up, feel free to respond. I know that pain, buddy. (Though i only lost a few weeks worth of effort, not months)

unless i imagined things at 4am when i got there, you get a very short teaser of what is in there at the very end before the "Thanks for playing" screen.

Now the image doesn't explain what it is, but it certainly brings up quite a few questions.

Buddy, trust me. You're not the only person that cried at several of these scenes.
I've read at least 5 comments so far stating that - and i have not read that many comments.

Best Visual Novel I played so far. I'm serious.
Loving all the characters and the plot. And the fact that the characters and the plot are very tightly interwoven. Makes you really invested in ALL the characters, because except for very few side characters, most have a significant part in the story.

Can't wait for the next update! I need more! :I

(also, you really got my blood boiling with the doctor's office scene and what came after. Was barely ever that incredibly mad because of a video game plot in my life.)
